New friends are silver, old ones are gold : Visit from Steve& Danielle

New friends are silver, old ones are gold: make new friends, but keep the old.
Steve and Leo have been friends since they were something like 8 years old. When Leo says he is a great bicycle rider, he refers to those days....

We are lucky. Not only are Steve and Leo best friends, but in their relationship, I made one as well in Danielle. They are witnesses to our life, as they were there right from the start, when Leo and I first met.
Over the years, they have only been able to come over three times. First, when we got married, in 2008, then when Chloé was one year old, and last week-end. We see them when we go to BC, which does not happen often, as it is more expensive to fly there than to Thaïland!
So we made the most of their 3 day visit!

Saturday: Gallerie de la Capitale. It was a rainy morning...

Then off to the Domaine de Maizeret, our favorite park in Québec! And we were in luck, as there was the Celtic festival.

When we got back, we were all ready for bed!! Not too sure who was the most tired!
Day two was just as fun: Fine Art Museum and off to another park. We love going there as a family, and now that we have our yearly pass, we go more often. The kids love it, and I'm guaranteed good shots!
First: the old prison and the contemporary artists...

Mav adored the old prison, climbing up the tower and looking at the cells! We also got to test some wall colors for the redecoration of our house.

Liam decided to stay out of a few rooms which did not smell very nice...and looked strange! Although we love the museum, the kids can only do it for 2-3 hours. Then, they get tired of behaving!

Mav and his amazing brain...just breathing it all in.

Mav finally decided to put on his new outfit, the one I gave him months ago...he felt sharp!

The light in the Pierre Lassonde building is fantastic!

And Thank you Patrick Coutu for creating one exposition the kids can play with.

Then off to the park to burn the kid's energy. We were all getting tired by then.

So Steve is Chloé's godfather, and Danielle is Liam's godmother....

I am very lucky. I get along just as well with Danielle than with Steve...

So we put the kids to bed early. It was grown-up time: Chinese fondue and a game of Cards Against Humanity....or in our case Crabs Adjust Humidity! Oh! And wine...til quite late! Thank you Jeff, Julia and Marcello for gifting us this game :)

Next day, off to meet my mom for a tour de ville de Québec...
As my mom is now a tour guide, we asked her to guide us. Tons of knowledge to share...but with Liam having had such a busy week-end, the only thing he wanted was to be back home. Steve and Danielle got to experience a family outing with a trio of tired kids!

So thank you Steve and Danielle for this wonderful visit. Thank you for taking what little time off and spare money you have to be with us. You mean the world to us. I am sorry that I chose to build our family life across the country from you. We just didn't want the financial struggles that comes with a life in BC, and my mom is here...but it sure would be fun to be around you guys more. We love you so much.

L&K...and C,M&L
